Our law careers started way back in 1986-1987. We are seasoned family law attorneys. Our family law practice, Nemiroff & Cohen, LLP, is dedicated exclusively to family law and has earned an outstanding reputation for our compassionate and effective skills in handling family law matters including Divorce, Legal Separation, Custody and Spousal/Child Support cases.

Some attorneys claim to be ‘specialists’ in family law, though stating so is often putting their state bar license in jeopardy. Claiming to be a ‘specialist’ or ‘expert’ in family law is very different than actually being a Board-Certified Specialist in Family Law. For an attorney to become a Board-Certified Family Law Specialist he or she must practice law in family law for years before they are even allowed to apply for the coveted recognition.
Why choose a Certified Family Law Specialist? – Certified Specialist applicants must fulfill numerous California State Bar mandated requirements including lengthy hours of additional study to prepare for the required and rigorous examination that will demonstrate a high level of competency and skill in family law. A Certified Specialist must demonstrate requisite experience including proven handling of a broad spectrum of family law matters in the real world. Finally, Certified Specialists must undergo a tedious and extensive peer review by other certified specialists (lawyers) and judicial officers (judges). Once the coveted title of ‘Certified Specialist in Family Law’ is earned, ongoing and mandatory advanced education goals must be attained to remain in good standing with the California State Bar’s Board of Legal Specialization.

Gail Rose Cohen, C.F.L.S. – a Certified Family Law Specialist, is the founder and managing partner of Nemiroff & Cohen, LLP. She attended UCLA and then the University of the Pacific where she graduated Cum Laude and was on Law Review. As an attorney, she has remained active in the legal community serving as a Judge Pro Tem, serving on the Executive Committee of the Beverly Hills Bar, and volunteering her time as a Daily Settlement officer helping mediate cases in downtown Los Angeles and Van Nuys.
Originally from New Jersey, she has made Los Angeles her home for over forty years. Married with two children, she has made the Encino area her home.

Lauren Hope Nemiroff, C.F.L.S. – a Certified Family Law Specialist, is a founding partner of Nemiroff & Cohen, LLP. Although born in Brooklyn, New York, she was raised in the Los Angeles area, attended UCLA and Southwestern University where she was Senior editor of Law Review and graduated Cum Laude. As an attorney she is experienced in handling complex family law matters and volunteers her time to serve as a Judge Pro Tem and Daily Settlement Officer mediating cases in Los Angeles and Van Nuys.
